The purpose of this survey is to identify colleges, universities, and technical schools that may be particularly suitable for students on the autistic spectrum--including autism, Asperger's Syndrome, PPD, and related issues.  The information provided will be used initially for an article in preparation for Autism-Asperger's Digest and may be used for directory subsequently.

Individuals on the autistic spectrum vary considerably in their areas of challenge.  Problems that are frequently encountered are poor interpersonal and social skills, a focus on selected areas of interest to the exclusion of other areas, and difficulty in organization.  Some individuals may also experience extreme sensitivity to certain stimuli such as noise and light, difficulty in focusing on themes and "the big picture," difficulty in oral or written expression, poor handwriting, attentional problems similar to ADD, vulnerability to exhaustion, impaired spatial perception, and a lack of understanding of abstract ideas and non-verbal communication.
